On May 16, 2025, Michael Martinez, together with Joanne Wu-White of Poyner Spruill LLP and Shelley Abel, the U.S. Bankruptcy Administrator for the Western District of North Carolina, presented on subchapter V cases seen within the Western District of North Carolina since the enactment of the Small Business Reorganization Act of 2019. The presentation catalogued pending and concluded subchapter V cases within the district and forecasted unresolved issues with the (relatively) new statute that will likely be the subject of judicial opinions in the coming months.
