Ben was born in Charlotte, North Carolina. He attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and graduated with a B.A. in Sociology in 2015. From 2015 to 2021, Ben served in the U.S. Army as a field artillery officer. After tours of duty in Afghanistan and Europe, Ben was honorably discharged and enrolled at the University of North Carolina School of Law. Upon graduation in 2024, Ben joined Grier Wright Martinez as an associate.
